Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom Spoilers

Do not read if you have not seen Jurassic Park: Fallen Kingdom. If you want to have the ending ruined then by all means proceed.

With a movie titled Jurassic World, and a third installment in the works, it made sense that Fallen Kingdom ended with the dinosaurs roaming free on the earth. The Lost World gave us a taste of that catastrophe and Jurassic Park 3 seemed to tease that idea with its misleading whimsical ending. Adding the icing to the cake in Fallen Kingdom is Ian Malcolm giving a final foreboding speech of all that genetic science and dinosaur cloning has lead to a literal Jurassic World with a T-Rex and a lion roaring at each other and a flock of Pteranodons circling above Las Vegas in the film's post-credit scene.
Don't mind the Mosasaurus he's just hungry
It wasn't so much the idea and concept that infuriated me, but how it happens is what ticks me off. When Lockwood's granddaughter Maisie (Isabella Sermon) discover's the evil plot occurring behind her grandfather's back, she escapes and runs into Owen and Claire who take her in as the Indoraptor escapes. We than have most out of nowhere Shyamalan twist revealing that Maisie is a clone of Lockwood's deceased daughter. Why? Why?! WHY?!
Maisie (Isabella Sermon)
Such inclusion is beyond me but what's more baffling is the movie's forced answer! After the defeat of the Indoraptor, the remaining caged dinosaurs are dying due to a gas leak leaving our characters a choice of saving them or letting them die. Claire is ready to push the button that will open the cell gates but not after a warning from Owen. stating that this isn't an island where the dinosaurs can roam free without hurting human civilians. While Claire makes the right choice on not pushing the button, I knew somehow the prehistoric reptiles would be set free by maybe the villain as it would prepare the plot for Jurassic Planet. But no, it is Maisie who releases the dinosaurs! Get this, the dinosaurs are like her, clones who are living and breathing. Young Lady there is a huge difference! You are not ten feet tall going on a rampage and eating any living thing you come across! She better get a time out for starting the dinosaur apocalypse.
And you wanted to save the dinosaurs because they were living and breathing like you.
Let that sink in. We have our heroes to thank for the impending dinosaur doom that will befall humanity! Unless they plan to end the franchise with dinosaurs ruling the world then I guess it's on the right track.
First the lions, then the WORLD!
It's sad when Roland Emmerich's 1998 Godzilla makes a better point with Mathew Broderick explaining the effect these creatures will have if set loose in society. Ironically, that movie resulted in a feeble Jurassic Park clone, but preserved the major themes amidst its B-movie making than an actual big-budget Jurassic Park movie.
'"..they'll multiply and soon a new species will emerge. One that could replace us as the dominant species of this planet!”
-Matthew Broderick and his team attempting to escape the Baby Zilla nest.
To close this out, I'll let film critics David DiCerto and Chris Stuckmann have the final word as they explain it better than myself on the good, the bad and the ugly of Fallen Kingdom.
