When it comes to Hollywood and the works of Seuss
only one comes to mind that isn't obtuse.
Blue Sky Animation who did Ferdy and Scrat,
kept Horton the elephant well and intact.
The Lorax got wrapped in its own thneed thread
and Myers as The Cat, lets not talk of that dread
As for Ronny and Jimmy's own take on the Grinch,
divided the public into quite a big pinch.
Some hate it and rightfully so,
while others enjoy it and don't see it all woe.
Thumbs up or thumbs down, we can certainly agree,
definitely not for the little ones to see.
Could Illumination Studio, do like Jim Carrey,
and have better luck with a second Seuss story?
From Grinch to Horton, Carrey did just fine,
now its Lorax to Grinch, for this minion line.
Benedict Cumberbatch is the Grinch but a little less Smaugy
plays more to his role of the Penguin's little doggy.
He captures the essence of the mean one's grump,
but did I need to see close shots of his rump?
Cindy Lou Who is still very sweet,
lives with her mom while dad is discrete.
Serves more of a plot point than actual character,
such a shame that Ron Howard did a tad bit better.
Max the dog continues to be the best,
this is the director who did Secret Life of Pets.
Pharrell Willaims narrates, though it can be distracting,
thank goodness the movie doesn't play his song "Happy."
Kenan Thompson is in it, don't worry he's funny,
along with a reindeer though bloated but charming.
When the plot catches up with the heist of the book,
its glorious and Seussy from the rhymes and the look.
But alas the climax again I must say,
Carrey had more emotion on display.
A little more time I wished we had seen,
the Grinch and the Whos interacting onscreen.
In the end, this Grinch is simply okay,
but I'll be watching the short at the end of the day.
